Museums in Bogotá

Bogotá has been characterized as a modern, cosmopolitan and with a wide range of touristic city attractions.

A new city plenty with restaurants, parks, monuments, bars, nature and others with different themes and varied offerings it has more than 60 museums throughout the city.

Its themes are of all kinds and for people and ages. There are children’s museums, modern art museums, anthropological, colonial art, religious art, history, architecture, engineering, natural history and sea world, military, police, the independence of Colombia among many others.

The most important museum in the city that can not miss is the Gold Museum, which preserves the world’s largest gold collection, ceramics and textile pieces.

Another not to be missed is the National Museum which has a collection of native and historical priceless pieces, plus, the building was previously a prison where in some places you can still see messages and drawings of prisoners who were kept inside.

The Museum of Colonial Art has religious pieces, family’s furniture and a valuable collection from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Modern Art Museum (MAMBO) has pieces of national and international renowned artists and has contributed to the world of contemporary art and a different concept.

Closed 1st January, Good Friday (April 3th), 1st May, 20th July (National Holiday on monday), 25th october (election day), 24th, 25th and 31st December, and January the 1st, 2016.
